In 2018 Haiti was declared free of cholera disease after 8 years of massive action against this disease since its outbreak immediately after the devastating  earthquake in 2010.

Unfortunately, since October 2022 we are facing a resurgence of this disease in many areas of the country. Suspected cholera cases continue to grow daily, and deaths have occurred including our targeted communities.

FH is responding to the cholera outbreak in the Kenscoff area by spreading key messages on cholera awareness in 30 communities through churches, 270 community leaders, 260 mother leaders and 22 health workers trained by FH Haiti and certified by the Haiti health department (MSPP). In addition, 300 families have received hygiene kits containing: water purifier, soap, toothpaste and toothbrush.

FH Haiti is working together with train leaders and Haiti health department to disseminate information, train communities, and provide necessary tools to face the rise of this disease.
